About the Geneva Forum for Sustainable Investment

The Geneva Forum for Sustainable Investment (GFSI) is the annual meeting point where investors can learn about best practices and meet key asset managers and main players in the sustainable finance industry. The objectives of this event are:

  • Emphasize the issues at stake in terms of corporate social responsibility, governance and environment;
  • Promote Switzerland as an innovative hub for sustainable finance;
  • Present new sustainable invest­ment strategies and allocations to an audience of wealth management professionals;
  • Gather industry leaders showcasing their expertise on a common platform.

The GFSI has been able to reinvent itself and strengthen its image among the actors of sustainable finance. Joakim joined Nordea Investment Management as responsible for research on the Industrial as well as the Mining sector in March 2014. In November 2018, Joakim became the Lead PM for the new fund North America Stars. Since joining Nordea, he has conducted research in the Chemicals, Business services and Technology sectors. Throughout this period, Joakim has also been managing global funds in the Fundamental Equities team. As of 2017, Joakim is responsible for research on the Cyclicals Super Sector. Prior to joining Nordea, Joakim worked as an investment analyst for 8 years at CA Cheuvreux, Credit Agricole, providing bottom up research on several sectors, such as Mining, Oil, Shipping & Business Services. When he left CA in 2014 he served as Head of the European Mining sector. Joakim holds a Msc in Finance from Stockholm School of Economics.

Hamish Chamberlayne is Head of Global Sustainable Equities at Janus Henderson and is responsible for managing the Janus Henderson Global Sustainable Equity and Global Responsible Managed strategies since 2013. He was an investment manager with the firm from 2012 and joined Henderson as an investment analyst in 2011 from Gartmore, where he was an equity analyst with the global equity team. Prior to this, from 2004 to 2007, Hamish worked as a senior auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he covered a variety of sectors, including energy, technology and communications. He began his career at Burlington Consultants in 2003 performing commercial due diligence on businesses identified as acquisition targets by private equity houses.

Hamish graduated with a master’s degree in chemistry from New College, Oxford University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a qualified accountant. He has 18 years of financial industry experience.

David Czupryna has been at Candriam since 2018. There, as Head of ESG Development, he is responsible for business development and for communicating the company’s ESG expertise. He is the principal intermediary between our ESG management/analysis team and our clients. As such, David is our spokesman on the company’s ESG expertise:

  • Fund presentations,
  • Explanation of the various environmental, social & governance issues and challenges.

Before that, David led the growth of ESG strategies in German speaking countries at Sycomore Asset Management and in Northern Europe at Erste Asset Management. David started his career with BNP Paribas in London on the equity derivative structuring desk.

David holds an MBA from the University of Cambridge as well as Masters degrees in political science from the Free University of Brussels and the Catholic University of Louvain.

Léa Dunand-Chatellet is Head of the Responsible Investment Department at DNCA Finance since June 2018.

Léa started her career in 2005 at Oddo Securities’ extra-financial research department, then became portfolio manager and Head of ESG Research at Sycomore Asset Management in 2010. She spent five years at the company, setting up and managing a range of SRI funds, achieving a top AAA ranking from Citywire. Working within the investment management industry, she developed a pioneering extra-financial model that includes sustainable development issues in the fund management approach. In 2015, she joined Mirova as Equity CIO, managing a team of ten equity portfolio managers.

Léa Dunand-Chatellet, 35, is a graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) with an aggregation in economy and management, and is also a member of various committees on the Paris financial market. She teaches courses on responsible investment in some of France’s major business schools on a yearly basis and co-authored a key publication in 2014 titled “SRI and Responsible Investment” (published by Ellipse, available in French only).

Luca Fasan 46, CFA, has 20 years’ recognised experience as a global investor. He began his career in 2001 in Milan as a junior financial analyst at Eurizon Capital, and was later promoted to Portfolio Manager on the Sanpaolo High Tech fund and Senior Global Analyst specialised in Technology. In 2007, he joined the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) research team at Martin Currie Investment Managers in Edinburgh and became head of the team in 2010.  Luca Fasan developed and managed the Martin Currie Global Long Term Unconstrained strategy – a quality range of funds with a focus on sustainable business models – for 5 years (2015-2020). He then joined Sycomore in 2021 to manage Sycomore Global Education, a fund supporting improvements in the reach, quality and affordability of education to generate sustainable growth and positive impact for society. He is a graduate of L. Bocconi University in Milan.

Ulrik is co-head of the Environmental Strategies Group within Fundamental Active Equities and ESG Champion at BNP Paribas Asset Management. He is responsible for all activities related to the management and performance of the organisation’s environmental strategies and portfolios, including a specialist team of 6 investment and research professionals. In his capacity as Senior Portfolio Manager, Ulrik is the co-lead portfolio manager for the Energy Transition Fund, Environmental Absolute Return Thematic Fund (EARTH) and the Ecosystems Restoration fund.

He joined BNPP AM in 2019.

Ulrik began his career in 2001 at Goldman Sachs, London, investing thematically across energy, materials, and agriculture companies globally within the Goldman Sachs Principal Strategies Group (2005 – 2007). He also co-ran the Goldman Sachs Thematic Investment Group (2007-2012). Since 2012, Ulrik has been the CIO and co-founder of North Shore Partners that became part of Duet Asset Management in 2015 and later co-founded Sustainable Solutions (2017-2019) with a focus on developing environmental solutions strategies across long as well as long short strategies. Ulrik has over 22 years of investment management experience across thematic investments, capital structure and private markets. He holds an MSc in Economics & Political Science from the University of Copenhagen and is based in London.

He first started his career as Cash Manager at CDC GmbH in Germany.

Nicolas Jacob is a member of the SFAF and holds the CIIA. He also holds a Master degree in Finance from the ESCEM and a Postgraduate degree from IPAG Paris.

Prior to joining the firm, Jamie worked at Hill Samuel Asset Management as a Japanese Equities Fund Manager. He holds an MA in History from the University of Edinburgh, has IMC and IIMR qualifications and is a member of the CFA Society of the UK.

Marco Lenfers joined Vontobel Asset Management in autumn 2013 as Client Portfolio Manager for the Sustainable Equities Boutique.

Previously, Marco held similar roles at Vescore AG (founded in July 2015) and at Notenstein La Roche Privatbank AG (since 2013). From 2010 to 2013, he was Head of Client Portfolio Management at Bank J. Safra Sarasin AG in Basel. From 2005 to 2009, he worked as senior relationship manager for institutional clients at Bank Sarasin AG in Munich, and from 2000 to 2005 as senior portfolio manager at HSBC Global Asset Management (Deutschland) GmbH in Düsseldorf.

Marco Lenfers holds a degree in Business Economics from the University of Münster (Diplom-Kaufmann). He is also a CFA charterholder.

Viola Lutz is head of Climate Solutions, ISS ESG, a unit of Institutional Shareholder Services that helps financial market participants understand, measure and act on climate-related risks and opportunities across all asset classes.

Viola joined ISS in 2017, following its acquisition of the financial industry business of South Pole Group, where she was a member of the team that developed the world’s largest database of company-level climate change data and pioneered the development of leading, standardized investment climate screening tools. Viola initially served as Head of the ISS ESG Climate Consulting, Methodology and SPO team.

Viola was named in the Forbes 30 Under 30: Europe Finance list in 2020 and holds a Masters degree in Public Affairs from Sciences Po Paris.

He joined Lyxor in 2009 as Head of Index and Quantitative Fund Development. Prior to Lyxor, he was Director of Index Funds & ETFs at Societe Generale Asset Management AI, where he developed the index management business including passive funds, ETFs, index-enhanced and alternative beta products since 2004. He introduced in 2005 the first range of structured ETFs in Europe (leveraged, short and capital protected). Prior to this, he worked for 14 years with SG Corporate & Investment Banking, holding various executive and management positions within the Equity Capital Markets business line.

Anne-Laurence Roucher began her career in 1999 as a Project Manager in a social integration company aiming to help long-term unemployed individuals to find a job in the restaurant sector, thus reconciling social and economic performance.

In 2000, Anne-Laurence Roucher joined the strategy consulting firm AT Kearney as a Business Analyst and then Senior Associate for financial institutions, working on a wide range of development and restructuring projects for asset managers, insurers, investment banks and private equity firms. Anne-Laurence Roucher joined Natixis in 2005 and was appointed Head of Strategy at Natixis Asset Management in 2007, playing a key role in highlighting the importance of responsible finance.

This strategic priority led to the creation of an entity dedicated to responsible finance within Natixis Asset Management, which later became Mirova. Anne-Laurence Roucher holds a Master’s degree in Management from ESCp Europe, and is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School (General Management Program).

Robin joined Bank J. Safra Sarasin’s sustainable investment research team in August 2019. He is responsible for integrating sustainability considerations into the investment processes of various investment strategies. His sustainability analysis focuses on the energy and utilities sector. He is also responsible for integrating climate issues into the Bank’s investment processes. Prior to joining the Bank, Robin gained extensive experience in portfolio construction and management, including developing quantitative investment solutions that include ESG criteria. He graduated from the ECE Paris engineering school in quantitative finance and holds a Master’s degree in Financial Techniques from the ESSEC Business School.

Raphael Thuin joined Tikehau Capital in 2020 and currently serves as Head of Capital Markets Strategies. Previously, he served as Head of Fixed Income Management at TOBAM in Paris, which he had joined in 2014.

He began his career in 2005 as a portfolio manager for Topaz Fund in New York. In 2008, he joined the capital markets business of Société Générale, also in New York.

Tatiana Valovaya assumed the role of Director General of the United Nations Office in Geneva in 2019. Ms. Valovaya has over 35 years of extensive experience in journalism, diplomacy and government service. She is currently Member of the Board and Minister in charge of integration and macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission. She began her career with the Government of the Russian Federation and served in various capacities, including as the Third and Second Secretary at the Russian Permanent Mission to the European Union in Brussels and Deputy Director and subsequently Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Russian Federation. Before joining the Government of the Russian Federation, she worked as a reporter to “The Economic Gazette” in Moscow (1983-1989). Ms. Valovaya graduated from the Department of International Economic Relations of the Moscow Financial Institute, holds a Ph.D and a Doctorate of Economic sciences from the State Financial Academy, Moscow.

Laure Villepelet joined Tikehau Capital in 2017 to promote and accelerate ESG initiatives across asset classes (private debt, real assets, private equity and capital markets strategies). Laure drives the creation, implementation and reporting of the Group’s practices regarding ESG integration, engagement and impact (with a focus on climate change, healthcare, innovation and inclusion).

Previously, Laure was sustainable development manager for L’Oréal France and coordinated projects from recycling initiatives to clean transport. She started her career at PWC valuations in NYC and London, and worked as financial analyst in Singapore.

Laure holds a Master of Science degree from Sciences Po Bordeaux and is a CFA® charterholder.

Ruben joined ZKB in June 2020 to support Swisscanto Invest’s ESG Strategy and Business Development, including spearheading the asset managers’ commitments to the Paris Climate targets. Prior positions held include Head of Quantitative Research & Licensing at RobecoSAM and Global Head of Index Concepts at the index provider Stoxx, among others. Dorothée Chapuis joined the Societe Generale group in 2001, first in Asset Management where she successively held the positions of Head of Performance Analysis and Client Reporting and then Portfolio Manager. She then joined Private Banking in France in 2010 to oversee the development of the private banking offers, and then was in charge of activity management and the development of diversification, philanthropy and sustainable development offers. In 2015, she took the position of Head of Advisory Marketing in Switzerland and then created the marketing department of Societe Generale Private Banking Switzerland in 2017. In 2019, she was appointed Deputy Head of Marketing for the Swiss, Monegasque and Luxembourg entities of Societe Generale Private Banking. In addition to this position, she was appointed Head of CSR at Societe Generale Private Banking Switzerland, Luxembourg and Monaco in August 2020. Since 2021, she has been appointed Head of Client Strategy of Societe Generale Private Banking Switzerland.
Dorothée Chapuis is a graduate of the Engineering School des Mines in Saint Etienne, France.

Jean-Philippe Desmartins joined Edmond de Rotschild Asset Management (France) in 2016 to head its Responsible Investment Team.

He holds a degree from the University of Paris II in Business Law and Management as well as from Sciences Po Paris (Economic and Financial Section). He began his career in 1993 as account manager in the financial engineering department of Crédit du Nord. From 1997 to 1999 he worked as project manager for the Alpha Group, before taking the position of Development Manager at the extra-financial agency AReSE. In 2003, he became Director at Innovest, and founded Desmartin Conseil the following year. Since 2005, Jean-Philippe Desmartin was Head of ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) Research at Oddo Securities.

He is a member of several international working groups and committees working to advance ESG issues (European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies – EFFAS, International Corporate Governance Network – ICGN, Principles for Responsible Investment – PRI, World Intellectual Capital Initiative – WICI). He is the co-author of three books on Responsible Investment, entitled “Socially Responsible Investment”, “SRI and Responsible Finance”, and the “Routledge Handbook of Responsible Investment”, published respectively in 2005, 2014 and 2015. His practice was the subject of a 2011 Harvard Business School case study, and in 2015 it was recognized as innovative by an international jury of academics and institutional investors, members of the Investment Innovation Benchmark (IIB).

Piloter la trajectoire 2° des investissements : la théorie face à la pratique - DNCA

Le 30 juin 2021, DNCA Finance a publié une étude complète des trajectoires de température de l’ensemble des entreprises en portefeuille.
Cette analyse a été possible grâce à l’utilisation des évaluations de température fournies par le CDP. Cette publication annuelle a pour but d’arriver progressivement vers un alignement deux degrés.
Le résultat obtenu de cette première étude, réalisée sur 70 fonds, fonds dédiés et mandats soit €20 Milliards d’actif sous gestion, est l’alignement des portefeuilles à une trajectoire de changement climatique exprimé en degrés Celsius. La moyenne de l’ensemble des investissements de DNCA Finance publié au 30 juin 2021 est de 2.5 °.
Pour améliorer cette trajectoire DNCA Finance s’est imposé des objectifs à court, moyen et long terme.

La recherche d’une performance financière robuste sur le long terme peut être conjuguée à un fort impact environnemental et social. Que signifie concrètement avoir de l’impact ? Cela commence avec une intention forte, qui peut se décliner dans les statuts de l’entreprise, les processus d’investissements, etc. Avoir de l’impact signifie aussi bien sûr « faire une différence », avoir une additionnalité, qui peut s’exprimer au travers de stratégies à impact, mais aussi via le vote, l’engagement, le plaidoyer... Ces initiatives doivent in fine pouvoir être mesurées, par des indicateurs généraux mais aussi au moyen d’outils de mesure plus spécifiques.
